Russia's deepest snow reaches 41 centimetres in Magadan region, forecaster says

Snow depth at the Bokhapcha weather station in Magadan region has reached 41 centimetres. Forecaster Mikhail Leus said it was Russia's highest reading as of October 11.

The Phobos specialist placed Khakassia second with 38 centimetres and Chukotka third with 30 centimetres. The figures refer to observations at individual weather stations rather than regional average snow depths.

Bokhapcha's morning observation record for October 11 also lists snow depth at 41 centimetres, confirming the value Leus cited for that station.

Leus said Siberia and the Far East had moved into the lead for snow cover. He described the snow cover there as already established and expected it to remain until spring.
