Russian competition watchdog says Rostagrokompleks faces a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles

Curd-snack producer Rostagrokompleks faces a fine of between 100 thousand rubles and 500 thousand rubles for unfair competition, Federal Antimonopoly Service chief Maxim Shaskolsky said. The amount would depend on the circumstances of the case, he said.

The dispute concerns letters the company sent to retail chains demanding that they stop selling products made by a competitor, the holder of the Aleksandrov K. B. trademarks.

Rostagrokompleks based its demands on purported exclusive rights to the B. Yu. Aleksandrov trademark. According to the watchdog, the company did not hold those rights.

The competition authority issued a warning to the producer in March. In October, it ruled that the company’s actions constituted unfair competition.
