Witkoff and Kushner brief Trump ahead of Ukraine talks

Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner presented US proposals to Donald Trump before consultations with a Ukrainian delegation in Miami. Axios reported that the discussion with the US president took place on October 8, while talks with Ukrainian representatives began on October 9.
Axios correspondent Barak Ravid said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and deputy national security adviser Michael Needham also attended the Trump meeting. The Miami consultations were initially expected to last two days.
The announced Ukrainian delegation included presidential chief of staff Kyrylo Budanov, foreign intelligence chief Rustem Umerov and Servant of the People parliamentary faction leader David Arakhamia. Representatives of the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the EU and NATO also joined the discussions. Evening reports by Axios and AP confirmed that the meeting was taking place.
According to Axios, Witkoff and Kushner could travel to Moscow later in October for further talks with Vladimir Putin. The report, attributed to a source, described a possible trip rather than an announced agreed visit. Presenting new proposals at consultations does not mean the parties have already reached an agreement.
