Yemen reports five killed in strike on Aden presidential palace

Five people were killed and 16 wounded in a Houthi strike on the presidential palace in Aden on October 15, Yemen's Health Minister Qassem Mohammed Buhaybah said.
The health minister said medical teams and emergency services had been sent to the palace area to evacuate the wounded and provide urgent care. Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani said security personnel and civilian employees were among those killed and injured.
Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani said the Houthis had used ballistic missiles. The Information Ministry said the prime minister and government members were unharmed.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree confirmed a strike on Aden. He said the target was a Saudi military headquarters inside the palace that assisted the Yemeni government. That description of the target is the Houthis' account.
Yemen has had two competing centres of power since the Houthis seized Sanaa in 2014. The internationally recognised government is based in Aden, while the Houthis control the capital and much of the north and west.
In early October, Presidential Leadership Council chairman Rashad al-Alimi announced an operation against the Houthis. He cited increased attacks on civilians, national facilities, neighbouring countries and international routes.
