ATOR reports travel document delays amid Yandex outage

Customers of some travel agencies faced possible delays receiving vouchers and tickets on October 11 because of disruptions to Yandex services. Paid bookings remain valid, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia said.

ATOR said the problem concerned issuing documents. In some cases, agencies were requesting them from tour operators through alternative communication channels. Paid hotels and other services included in tours were not being cancelled.

Most member operators' websites were working normally. ATOR reported an outage at one major operator, which was rerouting traffic around Yandex. Booking was also temporarily unavailable through two major package-tour aggregators.

The association said customers whose tickets had already been issued could still fly even if the documents had not arrived by email. ATOR said a passport was sufficient for check-in. The statement described website restoration as expected, rather than completed.
