Tatyana Razina disputes Metallurg's explanation for coach's suspension

Tatyana Razina, wife of Metallurg Magnitogorsk head coach Andrei Razin, says his suspension stems from one player's dissatisfaction. Her comments reported on October 9 differ from the club director's account of disagreements between coaches and players.

Razina wrote on Telegram that she did not accept the explanation of an internal team conflict. The quoted post does not name the player she meant. Her statement represents the coach's wife's position and does not itself establish why the club made its decision.

Metallurg suspended Razin on October 6. Director Alexei Zhloba said the decision was temporary and intended to halt escalation, allowing the situation to be assessed without outside pressure. He said discussions between coaches and players had not resolved the dispute.

Razin had previously used profanity when commenting on Vladimir Tkachev's play and media reaction. The forward missed two matches in late September, reportedly because he felt unwell. Last regular season, he led the team in scoring and assists with 71 points: 13 goals and 58 assists in 66 games.

Razin, 52, has coached the club since 2023. The team won the Gagarin Cup in 2024 and finished first in the regular season before reaching the playoff semifinals in 2025/26. At the time of the original report, Metallurg had 21 points from 14 matches and led the Eastern Conference.
