Russia’s Defence Ministry reports 560 drones destroyed overnight

Russia’s Defence Ministry said air defences destroyed 560 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Russian regions and the Black Sea and Sea of Azov between the evening of October 9 and the morning of October 10.

Kommersant and Profile, citing the ministry, reported that the tally covered the period from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Moscow time. The figure of 560 is the ministry’s aggregate count for that interval.

The statement listed the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Penza, Rostov, Samara, Saratov, Smolensk, Tambov and Tula regions, the Moscow region and Crimea. It also identified the waters of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that 25 drones heading towards the capital had been destroyed, according to Profile. His statement concerned the Moscow approach, while the Defence Ministry’s tally covered interceptions across the wider geographical area.
