Shesterkin ruled out for season after injury against Washington

Igor Shesterkin will miss the rest of the season through injury, the New York Rangers announced. The Russian goaltender was hurt during an away game against the Washington Capitals.
The 30-year-old hurt his leg while moving towards the goalpost midway through the second period of the Rangers' 3-1 defeat. Unable to put weight on his right leg, he left the ice with help from a doctor and teammates.
Shesterkin has played five games this season, winning three and posting a 92.7 percent save percentage. He also scored a goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He has played for the Rangers since 2020 and won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's best regular-season goaltender for 2021-22. The club specified how long he would be absent, while the cited report did not detail a diagnosis or treatment plan.
